Spay/Neuter Campaign October 26th and 27th 2018
38 dogs and 48 cats were spayed and neutered (almost twice as many as last campaign that happened in June 2018).
3 vet doctors, 3 vet nurses, si 10 volunteers worked side by side for two whole days.
Organizing a spay/neuter campaign entails a huge effort, but it’s all worth it.
We are very grateful to the 86 people who decided to do the right thing and bring their dogs and cats to be spayed/neutered. However we have to stress once again the importance of withholding food 24 hours before the surgery. Although we warned the people ahead of time, most of the cats and dogs were fed on the morning of the surgery unbeknownst to us. Unfortunately this puts the animals’ lives at risk. When a cat or dog is going under anesthesia their esophagus relaxes and the cat/dog will vomit. Worst case scenario the food goes from the stomach into the airways and lungs. The veterinary staff has to spend more time tending to cats and dogs vomiting rather than doing surgeries. We hope that at our next campaign the people will heed our advise and will not feed their cats/dogs within 24 hours from the surgery.See campaign
